Damage resistance

QR codes can still scan even if part of the image is dirty, torn or covered by a logo. A higher setting means more of the code can be damaged before it stops working — but it also makes the pattern denser. M is the right choice for most people.

Survives up to 15% damage. Good for most uses — websites, print, screens.

What is a QR code?

A QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information as a pattern of black and white squares. Any smartphone camera can read one instantly — no app required — and take the user to a website, connect them to a WiFi network, save a contact or perform any other action encoded in the code.

QR codes were originally developed in 1994 to track automotive parts. They became widely used in consumer applications after smartphones with built-in camera readers became mainstream, and usage accelerated sharply during the 2020s as a touchless alternative to printed menus, tickets and forms.

The pattern includes built-in error correction, which means a QR code continues to scan reliably even if part of it is damaged, dirty or obscured — including by a logo overlay. The amount of redundancy is controlled by the error correction level you choose when generating the code.

How to make a QR code

Creating a QR code with DoMyQR.com takes about ten seconds and requires no account.

  1. 1
Choose the QR code type Select from the tabs above: URL for websites, Text for any string, WiFi for network credentials, Contact for a vCard, Email for a pre-filled email or SMS for a pre-filled text message.
  2. 2
Enter your information Fill in the fields for your chosen type. The QR code updates live as you type, so you can see the result immediately without clicking a generate button.
  3. 3
Customise the design (optional) Change the foreground and background colours to match your brand. Upload a logo to place in the centre — use error correction level Q or H when adding a logo to keep the code scannable.
  4. 4
Download your QR code Click PNG for a high-resolution raster image (best for print and digital use) or SVG for a scalable vector file that stays sharp at any size. No watermark, no account required.

Frequently asked questions

Select the WiFi tab, enter your network name (SSID), password and security type — WPA is the most common option for home routers. The QR code generates instantly. When someone scans it with their phone camera, it will prompt them to join your network automatically without any typing.
QR codes made with DoMyQR.com never expire. All the information is encoded directly into the QR code image itself, so it works forever regardless of what happens to this website. Dynamic QR codes from other services can stop working if you cancel a subscription, but our codes are static and permanent.
A static QR code has the destination encoded directly in the image. It cannot be edited after creation, but it works forever, needs no internet connection to scan and cannot be tracked. A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL, so the destination can be changed later and scans can be tracked — but it requires a third-party service and usually a paid subscription to keep working. DoMyQR.com generates static QR codes.
Yes. Use the logo upload option in the customisation section to place an image in the centre of your QR code. Set the error correction level to Q or H before adding a logo — this ensures the QR code still scans reliably even with part of it covered by the image.
M (Medium) is the best default for most uses — it balances scan reliability with QR code complexity. Use H (High) if you are adding a logo, since the logo covers part of the code and you need more redundancy. Use L (Low) only if the QR code needs to be very small and density is a concern.
Yes, completely free with no hidden costs. There is no sign-up, no account, no watermark on downloads and no limit on how many QR codes you can generate. All processing happens in your browser — nothing is sent to a server and we do not store the information you enter.
Yes. Use the foreground and background colour pickers to set any colours you like. Make sure there is enough contrast between the two — dark foreground on a light background is the most reliable combination. Avoid light foreground on dark background if the QR code will be printed on coloured materials.
Download PNG for most uses — websites, presentations, social media and everyday printing. The PNG is exported at 600×600 pixels, which is high enough for most printed materials up to roughly A5 size. Download SVG if you need to scale the QR code very large (poster, banner, vehicle wrap) or want to edit it in a tool like Illustrator or Figma, since SVG is infinitely scalable.
